What will my wedding film look like?
I love video!
There’s something about a photo that can take you somewhere else entirely. And with video, even just a few seconds of movement, a familiar voice, a laugh you haven’t heard in years, and suddenly, you’re right back there.
I actually didn’t hire a wedding videographer for my wedding, but my sister from Paris, who couldn’t come (Covid…), surprised me with a video from snippets of us FaceTiming throughout the day. I cannot tell you how much this meant and still means to me.
That’s what I want your wedding film to do.
I want you to be transported back to the moment we captured. I want your heart to ache a little. I want it to be impossible to hold back a smile, even when you’re watching the video for the millionth time.
I don’t just want to capture what your wedding looked like. I want to capture how it felt.
I want you to hear your parents welcome your partner to the family. I want you to see how you brought together all the people you love into one space. I want to capture the hugs and the little looks you give your family, your friends, and your love. The small touches. The silly faces and ridiculous dancing. The moments that sometimes feel insignificant, but are actually what make you, you.
Your wedding isn’t only about all the beautiful details, (don’t worry, I will absolutely obsesses over the perfect lighting, composition, and angles to capture them). But it’s also about you.
You. Your partner. Your people. Your personality. Your love. Your story. And I want to make sure that you are the main character. Not you playing a role in another episode of the same wedding film you’ve seen 100+ times.
So, if you want someone that can capture not only the beauty of the day, but also you, your personality, and the feeling of it all, you’re in the right place.

I try to balance a fine line of staying out of the way, being as helpful as possible, and saying enough jokes to make sure you are having a great time and are smiling. Check out a bit more about me and the experience on my other pages!
What you should consider when choosing a wedding videographer.
There’s more to choosing a videographer than comparing prices and package hours. You’re trusting someone to spend a pretty significant chunk of your wedding day with you, and to tell the story of it afterwards. Here are a few things I’d actually consider:
Price
Don’t let this be the only deciding factor, but make sure you’re comfortable with what you’re spending. You don’t want to spend your first anniversary thinking, “That was beautiful, but wow, I’m not sure I’m happy I paid $XX for it.” There’s no point booking a videographer you love if the price is going to bother you every time you think about the film.
The actual person
Do you like them? Seriously. Your photographer and videographer are around for most of your wedding day, and their energy can have a surprisingly big impact on the vibe. You want someone you actually enjoy having around, not someone who is awkward and just waiting for you to lead everything.
How they work on the day
Do they blend into the background, or are they more hands-on? Will they be directing you through poses and recreating moments, or letting things unfold naturally? Neither approach is wrong, but you should know which experience you’re signing up for!
The colours
Look closely at the colours in their films. Do you like muted greens or vibrant greens? Warm and nostalgic or clean and true-to-life? Light and dreamy or rich and cinematic? There’s no right answer, you just want to make sure you pick someone who is an expert in what you want!
The pacing
This one is easy to overlook. Do their films move quickly and keep you engaged, or are they slow, romantic and cinematic? Are there moments of quiet mixed in with the chaos? Watch a few full films, not just the Instagram teasers, and ask yourself: Would I want to watch my wedding like this?
The audio
This is a big one, and something you might not think to look for when comparing videographers. Beautiful footage is great, but the voices, speeches, vows, laughter, background sounds, and little comments are what make a wedding film feel like your wedding.
Listen closely: Is the audio clear? Is there a story? Do you actually hear the people you love, or is it mostly music over pretty pictures? Good wedding audio is surprisingly complicated, too… multiple microphones, DJs, PA systems, background noise and people speaking from completely different places all have to come together in the edit. So when comparing prices, make sure you know what “video” actually includes. Two films can look beautiful, but they aren't necessarily the same product.
Packages
Don’t just compare how many hours you get. Look at what you actually receive. Is there a highlight film? Ceremony and speeches? Teasers? Full-length edits? Super 8? Raw footage? And, perhaps most importantly, does the package give you the kind of film you actually want to have sitting on your shelf (or in your camera roll) ten years from now?
The turnaround time
How long will you actually be waiting for your film? There’s no universal “right” turnaround time, but it’s worth knowing what to expect. If you’re the kind of person who will be dying to relive the day two weeks later, a six-month turnaround might feel very long.
Take a look at your videographer’s socials and website. Read their reviews. And please, watch the full videos, not just the 10-second Instagram clips. If you can’t find the answer to something, ask! It’s not a bother. These are exactly the kinds of questions you should be asking before you book someone.
What does personality in a video even mean??
Are you someone who loves to laugh and joke around? Let’s capture that! Or are you more quiet and chill? Amazing! I want your film to feel like you! It’s probably easier to show you. Take a look!
